Parenting sites

There are many organisations specialising in supporting parents. The following organisations all have comprehensive websites giving extremely useful advice:

BBC Website - parenting

Advice on all areas of parenting, from preconception to late teens and from dough modelling to financial concerns.

Includes an article on Making the most of family time, with help on how to guard those precious moments.

Fathers Direct

Fathers Direct is the UK's national information centre for fatherhood. The website has several interesting areas including 'fatherfact' - fascinating facts about fathers and families, 'playzone' - ideas on amusing the kids and 'Fatherwork' - an area aimed at everyone working with fathers.

National Family and Parenting Institute

The National Family and Parenting Institute (NFPI) is an independent charity working to support parents in bringing up their children, to promote the wellbeing of families and to make society more family friendly. The main site contains a great deal of information about research, campaigning, publications and a directory of parenting services. They also run an e-parents site aimed specifically at parents, containing advice and news in an easy to read magazine style.

Parentalk

A charity dedicated to inspiring and equipping parents. This excellent site covers many aspects of parenthood and includes a specific area for working parents. Their resources and services are all designed to help mums and dads make the most of every stage of their child's growing up. The 'expert advice' area also contains an excellent directory giving contacts of many organisations specialising in every area of parenthood.

Parentline Plus

"Help and information for parents... because children come without instructions."

Lots of general parenting advice including an email helpline for parents and details of their freephone helpline.

PBS Parenting Guide to Talking with Kids

A few articles exploring the topic of communicating with children, featuring a short slide show outlining strategies to consider.
